An undifferentiated cell has still yet to be developed into a mature and unique cell which is why it holds the fascination of scientist and medical staff around the world. The adult stem cell is an undifferentiated cell which they are hoping can be matured into a variety of other cells to help medicine and the benefits of mankind. The main role of our stem cells is to regenerate other living cells by repairing then and maintaining them to last a while longer. Most of the cells in our body break down and re grow in a constant cycle right throughout our lives. Muscle cells begin to slowly degenerate as we get older because we do not produce enough hormones for the re growth of the dying cells. However with adult stem cells research we are closer to finding a working anti aging method than ever before.

It is not sure how all adult stem cells come to be present in the body but there is evidence that the mature cells of the aged do house adult stem cells within the bodies’ tissue. Because the adult stem cells are abundant in the body it has prompted medical research to seek the possibility of being able to transplant the adult stem cells. Bone marrow transplants have been done for over 50 years and they have an extremely high success rate for the use of adult stem cells transplants. So transplanting some adult stem cells is possible but the problem is that so many stem cells are yet to be uncovered that we have no idea to what extent transplants can be achieved.

If the adult stem cells found in the brain can be harvested for use in medicines then there is a possibility of curing multiple brain diseases that are hereditary and non hereditary in nature. If the adult stem cells in the human heart can be harvested and manipulated to respond in growth then there may be hope for mankind to live for perhaps twice the age we are reaching by today’s standards. Even if the body cells could continuously regenerate themselves the heart muscle cells cannot. By replacing or regenerating those cardiac cells the heart could last much longer and keep us alive for extended periods of time. Adult stem cells research has not been totally perfected by doctors and there is still much ground to cover on the subject. One thing is for sure that this kind of research will change the world and break medical records to benefit the human race.

In the past years, stem cells research has come into the attention of the media and has become an interesting aspect to look at. There are several types of stem cells. On one hand, embryonic stem cells are the ones that give parents the opportunity to choose the sex of their future child or prevent the appearance of different diseases. On the other hand, there are adult stem cells that scientists have yet to exploit at their full potential. Researchers are now trying to figure out whether adult stem cells can come to the help of doctors in curing diseases such as bone marrow, brain damage, Alzheimer’s, or blood vessels.

Scientists and doctors who have performed several experiments with adult stem cells are very excited. They have located adult stem cells in many more tissues that they once thought. This led to a serious question to arise: can adult stem cells be used for transplants? Actually, adult stem cells from the bone marrow have been used in transplants for more than forty years. With recent discoveries, researchers claim that adult stem cells are also found in the brain and the heart.

One of the drawbacks of adult stem cells is that once removed from the tissue, they have a minimum capacity or re-dividing. That is one of the reasons why researchers are trying to find a way to speed up this process. At the same time they try to manipulate these adult stem cells to generate specific organ cells, that can be used for different treatments. Some of the potential treatments include regenerating bone using cells derived from the bone marrow, developing more spline cells that would produce more insulin, thus reducing the dangerous effects of type 1 diabetes, as well as repairing heart muscle following a heart attack. Adult stem cells are very important to the medical field, because they have the potential to develop into many different cell types in the body all throughout the life span of a human being. Actually, the main purpose of the stem cells is to instantly repair any type of internal damage made to the organs.

Researchers have been working hard for the last decade on new advancements and technology that can help the adult stem cell research. The use of these stem cells to aid problems like bone marrow disease, brain disease, blood vessels and many other parts of the body have been continuously successful.

The research into therapeutic treatment is also going strong and well for adult stem cells. Regeneration of tissue and tissue transplants have been much more successful thanks to the research done by the stem cell research teams. There are many different countries that are taking an interest in adult and embryonic stem cell research, which is said to take our advancements in medicine, right into the future with leaps and bounds. This is great news for our species as this research will help to slow and stop diseases that have plagued us for centuries.

Cancer is the biggest experiment in adult stem cell research with medical staff and students trying their best to make use of these human body parts so that the dreaded cancer can be stopped in its tracks. With a lot of perspiration and a whole lot of luck this research area might open up doors to other potential cures, medicines and medical benefits.

Stem Cells and Aging

Those who are seeking a way to stay eternally young have new reason to rejoice as there have recently been breakthroughs in stem cell research that show that these magical cells can help slow the aging process, and help you both look and feel younger!

Stem cells are cells found in the body that can replicate themselves into any cell within the body, so stem cells can form into cells for major organs, arteries, muscle, or skin tissue! It’s the magical ability of stem cells to form themselves into skin tissue that allows stem cells to help with anti-aging and slow the aging process.

But how?

As cells age, they deteriorate, become old, and also become damaged. As they start to break down, it starts to show on the skin and face, where some of the most delicate body tissue is. This damage may appear in the form of wrinkles, aging spots, and other physical signs of aging.

But, because stem cells have the ability to replicate themselves as any cell within the human body, they can repair these damaged skin tissue cells, and bring elasticity back to skin and give it a younger, fresher look. But of course, the way in which stem cells help slow the aging process goes far beyond just bringing the plumpness back to cheeks, and the vibrant glow back to the face.

Because stem cells can replicate any cell within the body, they can also replicate and replace damaged cells within major organs, muscles, and other tissue. So whenever any cells start to break down in the body, stem cells can replace them. This is a huge advancement as it can actually prolong people’s lives by replacing damaged cells that cause sickness and infection with new cells, which are fully functional and as good as new!

Stem cell research is the forefront of debate in today’s world with many advocates and adversary. Proponents argue that stem cell research can cure diseases and make life better for all while opponents cite ethical dilemmas. There are many different academics who have studied written articles on stem cell research, presenting a whole new development of challenges. These research articles contain a variety of different viewpoints and opinions that one must discern in order to reach a conclusion on stem cell research.

Many opponents to stem cell research believe that the life of an embryo takes precedent over any current human life. Those sharing this view believe that the benefits from stem cell research are random and that stem cell research is inherently unacceptable. In fact, some people even believe that stem cell research equates to cannibalism. There are many different research articles that explore the ethical implications surrounding stem cell research and the rights of an embryo. They also claim that such destruction of embryonic life is unnecessary for medical progress.

Proponents of stem cell research argue that an embryo does not possess the same rights as a human and that human rights take precedent, allowing for stem cell research and procedures to take place. They argue that the benefit of stem cell research on current human life is insurmountable and can save lives, cure disease, and revolutionize medicine.

Research articles reflecting both schools of thought can be found through many online databases. It is important to weigh in on both sides of the argument and understand the pros and cons to either side and the scientific and philosophical support for each.

Stem Cell Research – Pros and Cons

Filed under: Adult Stem Cells - 12 Apr 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

The blood has human building blocks and those blocks are known as stem cells. They help with providing new

blood cells. What makes stem cells stand outis the fact that they can develop and create a lot of unique cells. These cells can sometimes be damaged and need repair so scientists must research and find ways that can repair those organs.

People who have been in car accidents or had unexpected falls can really benefit from this research. The advancements that the medical world has made is what keeps this research alive and going. Stem research is vital for ones that have heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, pancrease disease, arthritis, and liver disease. They are also using stem research to try and find treatments or cures for cancer.

There are a few people who don’t agree with this research for reasons being ethical. They think that this research can destroy life and they don’t feel it is needed. Stem cells can be implanted to any donor and a baby could even be a result from one of the implants. One research that is illegal in some places is being able to do embryonic stem cell research. Scientists claim they could possibly clone cells if they are allowed to do this but it still continues to be illegal.

However you feel about this type of research I do agree that Scientists have come along way with it. This research has helped a few people that would have had those damaged cells because they could repair them and to me that is fantastic but still the question remains. Is this really not very ethical and could only hurt us in the end? I have mixed views but I really do see the benefits from scientist doing this type of research.

Stem Cell Research

Filed under: Adult Stem Cells - 29 Mar 2010  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

Adult stem cells are present in most organs and tissues such as brain, bone marrow, blood vessels, skin, teeth, and heart. These stem cells are in the tissues that they are going to become, an area called the “stem cell niche.” This niche provides an environment that allows them to reside next to their tissue type. Research has shown that adult stem cells live in the small blood vessels, and they could be taken from a patient to repair diseased or damaged tissue. When tissues are damaged by injury or disease, they are activated to become the cells that need to be replaced.

Adult stem cells may provide more in terms of therapeutic treatments as compared to embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent, having the ability to become any type of cell in the body. While adult stem cells are undifferentiated, they are limited to becoming the specialized cell types of the organ from which they are obtained.

One exciting area of adult stem cell research is the regeneration and transplantation of tissues. A patient’s stem cells could be obtained, grown in culture with growth factors that turn on genes that tell them to become a certain cell type. They would then be put back into the patient to replace the damaged or diseased tissue. Because the cells came from the patient, there is a significantly decreased risk of rejection. This could decrease or eliminate the use of powerful immunosuppressant drugs that have serious side effects. Some treatments currently being pursued using adult stem cells are trying to create osteocytes to regenerate bone, cells that produce insulin for people with type 1 diabetes, and cardiomyocytes to replace heart muscles that have been damaged from a heart attack.

Stem cell research is still one of the topics for a good debate when it comes to the science or researching of ways to help mankind. The biggest issue was with the use of the embryonic stem cells which are now commonly used in research methods because government agencies are aware of their benefits for the human race. Trying to fight disease and cure cancers is becoming easier with the use of stem cell research so those people who have protested against these procedures are going to lose out if they decide to boycott the programs.

The miracles that stem cell research has provided over the last few years have been widely publicized. The fact that after all the media scare mongering the research was finally stopped because of the way the research had started to pay off dividends. Once certain parts of the research had been perfected then this was introduced into the common medical community so that everyone could benefit from the advantages.

Found in common cells the adult stem cells can be retrieves simply through skin or flesh samples and then extracted from the rest of the debris. By using the cells for different studies and research endeavors, scientists have started to make numerous discoveries which can be used to help save lives.

How can the adult stem cells change our life?

Filed under: Adult Stem Cells - 03 Sep 2009  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

The use of adult stem cells in science, medical and laboratory conditions are becoming varied as the discoveries of uses continue to increase. Because of the ongoing research in this field there has been countless number of lives saved from not only the stem cell research but also from other related research such as embryonic stem cells. The replacement of animals to human stem cells for the scientific research of new medicines has proven very popular with animal rights activists but not so with human rights activists. However this has not stopped the research of adult stem cells on laboratory animals.

The potential uses of the adult stem cells have been uncertain due to a lack of objective questioning and research towards new discoveries. This was partly to do with the slow process that was hindered by protesters of the use of the stem cells towards medical and other forms of research. The stem cell is a microscopic part of everything that makes a human including muscle, bone, organs and all of our bodily parts. The adult stem cells can be grown on their own accord without having post human connections so that they can be used for treatment and research. Because there are a number of stem cells in each particle of the body it is not a problem to harvest adult stem cells without putting the donor at risk.

Waiting for the good news about adult stem cells

Filed under: Adult Stem Cells - 07 Aug 2009  | Spread the word !

[Facebook] [Twitter]

After being in a major accident where a car was hit by a train and then thrown into my vehicle I have not been able to walk properly because part of my spine was crushed and the nervous system that runs down through the spine was also damaged beyond repair. Those words beyond repair are very difficult for me to say however in truth this is most likely the facts of the situation. There are many alternative means of rehabilitation which can be painful and long term but I am still holding out for the adult stem cells research to shine and then I will hopefully get past the beyond repair diagnosis.

Recently a stem cell medical practice was granted rights to aid several people that have been wheel chair bound and the medical practitioners are hoping that the adult stem cells can help these people make a full recovery. It is certainly something that they hold a lot of faith in because the researchers have given a high percentage success rate to those about to undergo the surgery. If this works then I am hoping to be able to have some kind of stem cell cure given to me because the adult stem cells will hopefully fix the nerve damage and the doctor can finally remove the crushed discs from my spine. This is the dream I am waiting for so fingers crossed for the brave patient who have opted for the stem cell medicine that they make a good recovery.
